Margaret Kraus is an artist based in the greater New York area. She makes photographs and prints that challenge mundane ways of seeing.

She begged her parents for a digital camera when she was 8 years old and has not stopped photographing since. She spent her childhood shooting portraits of her twin brother, Vince, and has continued to pursue photography along with graphic design. She is an avid screen-printer and illustrator, and sells her work at local art markets across the country.

Margaret has received creative grants from the Thomas J. Watson Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. She has held internships at the Guggenheim Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). She has a BA in Visual Art and Humanities from Scripps College.

She recently completed a year-long Watson Fellowship studying human relationships with urban wildlife in India, Australia, and Italy, for which she contributed original photographs, interviews, and a blog series. She is pursuing work as a graphic designer.
